Why We Want to Innovate in Collectibles
Collectibles are not an "extra" for Filippo Loreti. They are the point.
When we decided to relaunch Filippo Loreti under a new team, we knew we didn't want to be "just another watch brand" fighting for space in the same old categories. We wanted to build something more cinematic, more emotional, and more creative. A universe where premium watchmaking becomes a canvas for our imagination.
Our Mission: Fun, Passion, and Community
We grew up inspired by these universes, and that passion drives every design choice we make. Our goal is simple: to bring some fun to watchmaking. We believe a watch should be more than a utility; it should be a vector for joy. By blending unique, artistic expressions with the stories our community loves, we create meaningful timepieces that resonate on a personal level.
That's why we're going all-in on collectibles. Starting with:
- DC: The Joker, The Batmobile, Super-man The Riddler, Two-Face Chronograph
- Marvel: Spider-Man – The Web of Time and The Punisher
- Lucasfilm Disney: The Death Star, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, The Mandalorian, The Galactic Empire, TIE Advanced, Vader Wrath (Filippo Loreti Watches)
From "just watches" to story-driven collectibles
A decade ago, Filippo Loreti exploded on Kickstarter with one of the most successful watch campaigns in the world. Growth came fast, maybe too fast, and the brand eventually had to be rebuilt from the ground up.
In 2025, a new team of watch entrepreneurs took over with a clear promise:
- A transparent story
- Fair, quality-driven timepieces
- Unique and creative universes
Our focus is on creative, accessible watchmaking, rooted in movement quality, bold design, and meaningful collaborations with global culture icons like Disney, Marvel and Warner Bros.
Collectibles are a strong expression of that promise. They let us:
- Build limited, narrative-driven pieces with multiverse creations
- Push visual and mechanical details further than standard releases
- Invite fans of cinema, comics, and sci-fi into watch collecting without gatekeeping
What "collectible" means at Filippo Loreti
For us, a collectible hits four dimensions at once:
1. Story depth
Every piece starts with a narrative moment: The Joker's chaos, Spider-Man's leap between buildings, Darth Vader battle with red neon laser, Gotham City night streets and more. The watch is built from that scene outward, not the other way around.
2. Mechanical credibility
These may be pop-culture pieces, but inside you still find enthusiast-grade movements:
- Seiko NH35 automatic in watches like Spider-Man – The Web of Time, The Death Star, The Galactic Empire, Vader TIE Advanced, Vader Wrath – a workhorse loved by collectors for its reliability and easy servicing. (Filippo Loreti Watches)
- Seiko VK63 / VK68 MechaQuartz in chronographs like Darth Vader Lord of the Sith, Stormtrooper and The Mandalorian – hybrid calibres combining quartz precision with a mechanical chronograph module and a crisp, "snap-back" reset.
3. Design-first, cinematic aesthetics
Our brand direction is intentionally bold, edgy, and graphic: dramatic blacks, hard contrasts, red accents, distressed textures, macro details. Collectible watches are where that style goes to its most extreme.
4. Accessibility
A serious collectible shouldn't require a billionaire budget. These collaborations are priced so first-time collectors and long-time enthusiasts can both play.
Why we innovate specifically in collectibles
1. Because pop culture is the new "heritage"
Beyond classical codes. We're bridging the gap between watchmaking and the universes we love, turning childhood passion into creative, one-of-a-kind timepieces.
We grew up with:
- VHS tapes of Star Wars
- Comic panels of Spider-Man
- Gotham City's skyline flickering on TV
- The Joker's manic laugh bleeding through old speakers
- Superman streaking across the sky in that first iconic flight scene
Our collaborations turn that emotional heritage into objects you can keep for decades. Officially licensed partnerships with Lucasfilm, Marvel and DC mean these are part of the official storytelling ecosystem.
2. Because details are where collectors fall in love
A collectible lives or dies on the details. We innovate here because these "deep cuts" are what transform a product into a passion project. Some of our most unique details include:
- The Joker – Chaos Timekeeper: Bezel engraved with a manic "HAHAHA" and toxic green lume that "laughs in the dark."
- The Death Star Automatic: A green seconds hand that lines up with the superlaser dish, every minute, the planet-killer "fires."
- Spider-Man – The Web of Time: An embossed web dial and blue strap with red stitching that feels like Spidey's suit wrapped around your wrist.
- Darth Vader Lord of the Sith Chronograph: Black case with crimson details echoing the rare red-tinted lenses of Vader's helmet.
These touches make the difference between "fan merchandise" and real collector objects, pieces you can decode over years, not minutes.

3. Because real movements should meet real fandom
A lot of licensed watches are basically branded fashion pieces. We went the other way.
Under our new management, the brand's direction shifted towards better movements, stronger quality controls, and more intentional design with long-term credibility as the goal, not just the next drop.
That's why you see:
- Automatic calibres like the NH35 in Spider-Man, Death Star, Galactic Empire, TIE Advanced or Vader Wrath.
- MechaQuartz chronographs in Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Mandalorian and many DC villains – with crisp pushers and smooth sweep seconds.
4. Because collecting should be inclusive, not elitist
Innovation in collectibles for us is also about how they're released.
We've experimented with event-style drops and story-driven campaigns like Star Wars Week Saga and The Vault, a Black November concept where special deals on hero collections unlocked over time.
The idea is simple:
- Let more people in
- Spread the excitement over days and weeks
- Make the experience of getting the watch part of the story

How to start your collectibles journey?
Whether you're coming from the watch world or the pop-culture world, there's an easy way in: (Filippo Loreti Watches)
1. Choose your universe
- You grew up with Marvel? Start with Spider-Man – The Web of Time or The Punisher.
- You're all about Gotham's psychology? Look at The Joker – Chaos Timekeeper and The Batmobile.
- The Force is your religion? Dive into the Star Wars Collection: Vader, Death Star, Empire, Mandalorian and more. (Filippo Loreti Watches)
2. Pick your movement
- Want to feel the rotor spin and the seconds sweep? Go for automatic (NH35).
- Want chronograph functionality with a crisp mechanical reset? Pick a MechaQuartz villain or Empire chrono.
3. Think like a collector
- Limited runs (like the 300-piece Darth Vader Lord of the Sith) are built for long-term collectability.
4. Wear them, don't hide them
These watches are made to be worn, scratched, lived in. A collectible with stories on its caseback and scars on its bezel is far more interesting than one that never leaves the box.
The future of collectibles at Filippo Loreti
Reinventing the brand meant accepting one truth: we're not here to copy anyone. We're here to explore the space between culture and horology where a watch can be both a mechanical object and a piece of narrative art.
This is only the beginning. More universes. More complications. More cinematic ideas on the wrist.
